One of today’s most popular proponents of Southern Rock is Blackberry Smoke, who will co-headline at Union Bank & Trust Pavilion on Friday, June 15 with JJ Grey & Mofro. The show starts at 7 p.m., and doors open at 6 p.m.
Blackberry Smoke hails from Atlanta. The band is Charlie Starr (lead vocals, guitar), Richard Turner (bass, vocals), Brit Turner (drums), Paul Jackson (guitar, vocals), and Brandon Still (keyboards). They have performed throughout the United States both as headliner and as support for Zac Brown Band, Eric Church, ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
The band’s sixth studio album, “Find A Light,” was released April 6. The record was No. 11 in preorder digital sales and No. 61 in CD preorder sales on Amazon.
JJ Grey & Mofro’s combines blues, funk, soul, and rock. All of the songs, written by JJ Grey, reflect his hometown of Jacksonville, FL. The band’s extensive touring schedule includes major music festivals Bonnaroo, All Good Festival, Austin City Limits, Wakarusa, and Rothbury. The band gained fame within the jam band scene touring with Widespread Panic, Galactic and Ben Harper. JJ Grey attributes most of the band’s strength to their stage performances rather than in the studio.
